Delaney & Robbie | Engaged

High school sweethearts are something special. They show us our first sneak peak at love, break our hearts, and most importantly, remain the basis of the way we experience love afterward.

That’s why lasting love between two high school sweethearts is so rare. For most people, there exists that “afterward,” where we take what hard-earned lessons we learned from our first loves and make ourselves better for someone else. But for Robbie and Delaney, the endgame was always one another.

Robbie and Delaney grew up in Montoursville, Pennsylvania adjacent to farm life. While Delaney showed animals in 4H, Robbie explored all 40 acres of his parents’ land, where we shot their engagement photos.

“You could blindfold me and drop me anywhere on this land,” said Robbie. “I’d know exactly where I am.”

I can’t think of a better metaphor for the love I witnessed between Robbie and Delaney the day of their shoot. It was a familiar kind of love; the kind that only exists between two people who have known each other through the most transformative years of life.

And no matter where you dropped either of them, they always found their way back to one another.

We walked between the pines where the two will find themselves married in a matter of months. Robbie’s family used to run a Christmas tree farm — and he bulldozed a small row of overgrown trees so he could stand there with his future wife in front of their loved ones come October.

Dedication, fellas. Take note.

Trout Run’s rolling hills and quiet beauty made the perfect backdrop for these Pennsylvania natives, who - with a friendliness I’m not accustomed to in Philadelphia - showed me all around the little valley they call home.

We shot in an orchard that belonged to a family friend before moving onto another neighbor’s property where their reception would be held. If there’s anything I’m certain of, it’s that Robbie and Delaney’s wedding is going to be a showcase of their kindness and community ties - something so unique to them and the area around them.
